Food and Feed Safety

The Food and Feed Safety Division is composed of two subunits: food safety unit; and feed safety unit. The Food Safety Unit’s focus is on food- and water-borne zoonotic pathogens that can cause severe illnesses in humans. This sub-unit’s scope of work covers the entire food chain from the point of primary production to the consumer. The Feed Safety Unit investigates how pathogens can be carried in animal feed and infect the animals. The unit’s research focus is on mitigation strategies and animal feed biosecurity measures.
